Easter 2020
Luke 24:36-43
Are you struggling to find significance during this time because what you are able to do is limited as a result of Coronavirus?
Luke 24:36 The disciples were talking about an occurrence that happened where Jesus talked and walked and explained the Scripture to them while they were traveling. They didn’t realize that Jesus the one traveling with them. Then when they sat down to eat with Jesus, they realized who he was and he disappeared. They were talking about this and Jesus suddenly is standing there among them and says peace.
Luke 24:37 They were understandably afraid and shocked at what was happening. They were trying to figure out who or what Jesus was. Was he a ghost or just a spirit?
Luke 24:38 Jesus asks these questions all the time. What were they troubled about? Seeing someone who they thought was dead? What were they doubting? That it was really Jesus?
Luke 24:39 Jesus answers their doubts about who he is and what he is. He is flesh and bone. He is bodily, physical, and fleshly, not just a spirit or ghost but substance.
Luke 24:40 He showed them his scarred hands and feet. Proving who he was.
Luke 24:41 They were still in astonishment and felt that it was too good to be true and amazed. Jesus asks them if they had some food to eat. Was he hungry? He simply wanted to prove that he wasn’t a ghost.
Luke 24:42 They had some broiled fish. He ate the food right in front of them. Proving that he is real.
When you cross over in faith believing that Jesus truly rose from the grave it gives us hope of our body being raised to life everlasting.
What significance does our limited actions, because of Coronavirus, have as a result of the resurrection?
Paul talks all about resurrection in 1 Corinthians 15.
1 Corinthians 15:58 Because of resurrection, the labor that we do in the Lord is not in vain.
As we are in him, the things we do have an everlasting quality that Jesus gives life to. Do not think that the little things you do don’t have any value. It is the so-called everyday little things that have actual significance in the Kingdom of God.
